(Ottawa, Ontario – February 14, 2019) – The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) would like to congratulate Dr. Christiane Ayotte on her investiture as an Officer of the Order of Canada. This honour recognizes Dr. Ayotte’s outstanding contribution to the fight against doping in sport, in Canada and around the world.
“Christiane’s impact on the science of anti-doping is almost unparalleled,” noted Paul Melia, CCES president and CEO. “Her expertise and passion for clean sport, coupled with her willingness to share her insight, have made her a valued CCES partner and collaborator.”
A chemist, researcher and professor, Christiane Ayotte has led the only doping control laboratory in Canada accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency for over 25 years - the INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier Research Centre in Montreal. In 2010, she coordinated the analyses of samples during the Vancouver Olympic Games, setting the industry standard for quality. She has been a member of several international sport commissions and working groups, and she is often invited to provide expert opinion in court hearings and arbitration, in Canada and internationally.
Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, invested six Officers and 18 Members into the Order of Canada during a ceremony at the Citadelle of Québec on Tuesday, February 12, 2019.
