The CCES has engaged the Canadian Centre for Mental Health and Sport (CCMHS) to provide independent mental health services to participants involved in the Canadian Safe Sport Program (CSSP) reporting process.

Confidentiality

The program is confidential, and eligibility is determined by the CCMHS. No one else will know the names of those receiving support, including the CSSP team.

Who is it for?

Individuals eligible for the program include:

  • Participants of the CSSP who have experienced maltreatment in sport that has been reported to the CSSP and where the CCES has jurisdiction.
  • Participants of the CSSP who have been reported to the CCES for potentially engaging in a prohibited behaviour where the CCES has jurisdiction.

You must be at least 16 years of age to access the CSSP Mental Health Services Program. If you are under 16 and require support, please contact us for information about other specialized support.

When can I get help?

We recognize that trauma impacts people in different ways and at different times. Individuals involved in the CSSP reporting process can apply to the CCMHS for support for up to two years after their report has closed.

How do I apply?

You do not need a referral from the CSSP team to apply. Please submit a self-referral form on the CCMHS website and include the CSSP report number. A Care Coordinator will reach out to you to schedule an intake session within 48 hours.

Participants can also be referred to the Mental Health Services Program – you can contact the CSSP team for more information on how to connect with the CCMHS, eligibility, or about the program itself.

What happens next?

Once the CCMHS has received an application from an individual or a referral from the CSSP, a coordinator will reach out to schedule an intake session within 48 hours. From there, you will be referred to a mental health care provider who meets your needs and preferences.

Individuals who are not eligible for the program will be contacted by CCMHS staff, who will share other mental health resources.

Is this funded by Game Plan?

No. Sessions for eligible individuals are covered by the CSSP.
