The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) values social media as a tool to connect and engage with the sport community. To maintain a safe and welcoming online community, we’ve established these community guidelines and encourage all users to participate in respectful discussions. By engaging with the CCES’s social media content, users acknowledge their understanding and acceptance of these guidelines.

Purpose

The CCES is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive online community. These guidelines outline how we manage comments and interactions on our social media platforms. Inappropriate and/or offensive content will be flagged for removal, and users who violate the guidelines may be blocked.

These guidelines apply to all CCES social media accounts, including:

Availability and Monitoring

All social media channels will be regularly monitored by the CCES, Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Comments and messages received outside these hours will be reviewed the next business day. We will respond to direct messages as quickly as possible.

Prohibited Content

To foster a safe and inclusive community, we expect all users to engage in respectful discussions. The following are examples of prohibited content and behaviour that the CCES does not allow. Please note that this list is not exhaustive and other inappropriate behaviours might be prohibited.

  • Advertising and Solicitation: Unsolicited promotions of products, services, or businesses not affiliated with the CCES.
  • Discrimination and Derogatory Language: Comments that promote or perpetuate discrimination based on race, ethnicity, age, gender, marital status, socio-economic status, physical or mental ability, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Explicit Content: Nudity, pornography, child abuse, or sexually suggestive content.
  • Harassment and Personal Attacks: Name-calling, insults, threats, intimidation, or bullying directed at individuals based on their appearance, beliefs, or identity.
  • Misinformation: Spreading false or misleading claims about the CCES.
  • Privacy Violations: Sharing personal or confidential information about others, including phone numbers, email addresses, or private conversations. We request users not to include personal or confidential information in community posts.
  • Spam and Repetitive Messaging: Excessive posting of the same message, irrelevant content, or promotional material.
  • Violence and Harmful Content: Content that promotes or glorifies violence, self-harm, drug use, or illegal activities. 

The CCES reserves the right to remove comments and/or block users that we determine violates these guidelines.

Content Management

The CCES will monitor and moderate comments and messages to ensure compliance with these guidelines. The following actions may be taken:

Comments

  • Notification: The CCES may send users that post inappropriate content a private message to inform them about our guidelines.
  • Immediate Removal: Content that violates our guidelines will be deleted to protect the safety of our online community. 

User bans

  • First Offense: The CCES may send users that post inappropriate content a private message to inform them about our guidelines.
  • Repeated Offences: Users who repeatedly violate the guidelines may be blocked.
  • Serious Violations: Users who commit serious violations may be blocked immediately and without warning.

Data Privacy and Protection

Protect your privacy and the privacy of others. Never share public comments and /or posts containing personal or confidential information such as account details, addresses, phone numbers, email, passwords, or any other identifying information. Posts containing such information may be removed to ensure a safe and secure online environment. For more information, please refer to the CCES Privacy Policy.

Regular Review and Updates:

The Social Media Community Guidelines will be reviewed regularly to ensure they are relevant and effective. Changes will be made as needed to reflect evolving social media practices. By engaging with CCES’s social media platforms, users acknowledge their understanding and acceptance of these guidelines.

Our interactions, such as follows, shares, or likes, do not imply endorsement of any individual or organization.
