Ottawa – September 11, 2024 – Sport Law and the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) are pleased to share Towards Sport 2.0: Hope on the Horizon Impact Report with the sport community.

As part of the Hope on the Horizon Tour, which took place from April 2023 to June 2024, we engaged with hundreds of sport leaders who are committed to re-imagining a new sport delivery model, based on shared values and the True Sport Principles. We captured the hopes that participants shared for a healthier sport culture and identified the risks that must be mitigated. We travelled to 12 different cities and visited nine provinces and territories across Canada including Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Yukon, British Columbia, Nunavut, New Brunswick, Ontario, and Manitoba. During the workshops, participants were able to learn and contribute to discussions related to good governance, risk management, safety in sport, values-based leadership, True Sport activation, and more. We witnessed a deep desire by community, provincial and territorial leaders to proactively address the limitations of the current sport landscape and to inspire sustainable change.

"We are delighted to share the stories and wishes from sport leaders across the country who believe in the power of sport to strengthen communities and inspire a nation. They had so many important insights to offer and we are grateful for their wisdom and commitment to make important improvements," shared Dina Bell-Laroche, Sport Law Partner.

"The CCES was grateful to meet with provincial, territorial and community sport leaders to learn how we can collaborate to ensure a fair, safe, accessible and inclusive sport experience. Across the country there is a growing appetite for a proactive approach to help foster a positive sport culture. As the network leader for values-based sport, we look forward to activating the True Sport Principles with leaders across the country," shared Karri Dawson, Executive Director, Values-Based Sport, CCES.
