Ottawa – October 9, 2025 – The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) is pleased to share an update on its continued evolution towards a broader sport integrity agency.

The CCES Board of Directors met in September. Its initial focus was a review and discussion of the Future of Sport in Canada Commission’s August 2025 Preliminary Report, as well as considering insight and feedback from the CCES’s participation at the Commission’s National Summit earlier in September.

Informed by the Commission’s Preliminary Report, the Board discussed the ongoing need for Canada to have a centralized independent sport integrity agency for safe sport, anti-doping, competition manipulation, and emerging issues. Consistent with the CCES's 2025-28 strategic plan, the Board determined the organization will continue to move in this direction to advance sport integrity and positively impact Canadian sport.

Strategic priority updates included a focused discussion on the December 2025 approval of the new World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) 2027 Code and the national consultation that will follow on how it will be implemented in Canada. Given the ongoing and growing concerns around gambling in sport, emphasis was placed on the urgent need to launch the Canadian Program to Prevent Competition Manipulation (CPPCM) before the end of the fiscal year. After nearly six months in operation, the Canadian Safe Sport Program’s (CSSP) progress was reviewed, including an analysis of the first Quarterly Snapshot and early second quarter trends.

Lastly, the Board gave its continued support towards the ongoing process of a brand review that more accurately reflects our mandate as a regulator of sport integrity in Canada. We are excited to share this rebrand in the coming months.

As we continue our organizational evolution, we will continue to review, update, and sunset initiatives and materials (including website, social media, and other external and internal documents). This is a necessary step to further the CCES’s independence in relation to its work, particularly as it impacts our strategic priority areas of safe sport, anti-doping, and competition manipulation.

We also look forward to hosting the 2026 Sport Integrity Symposium that will gather the national sport community, as well as leaders and experts in their fields, at a forum for informative presentations and discussions about protecting and promoting sport integrity in Canada. Stay tuned for more to come!
