Ottawa – January 24, 2025 – The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) is proud to present the final Canadian Safe Sport Program (CSSP) Rules to the sport community. As of April 1, 2025, the CCES will independently administer the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS) through the application of the new CSSP Rules for federally funded, national-level sport organizations.

In addition to the final CSSP Rules, several supporting documents are also available, including a redlined version that tracks the changes made from v2 to final, an explanatory document, UCCMS version 7.0, the CSSP Privacy Policy and a policy summary.

The rules were developed following several rounds of extensive consultation with external experts and researchers across sport, law, trauma-informed, regulatory, disability, human rights, gender equality, sexual violence, intersectionality, and social and racial justice practices. Meetings with advocacy groups and athletes’ councils, six separate public consultations, individual discussions, and email submissions afforded the opportunity to hear directly from those who these rules will serve and impact. The CCES would like to thank everyone who provided feedback and participated in the consultation process.

CSSP Adoption

Information about the adoption process has been emailed directly to the CEO or Executive Director and/or safe sport officer at every federally funded national-level sport organization. Please contact the CCES if your organization hasn’t received the information package, or you have questions about the adoption process. Email [email protected] or call 613-521-3340.
