Ottawa – October 15, 2025 – The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) wishes to advise that Cricket Canada’s contract to participate in the Canadian Safe Sport Program (CSSP) has been suspended.

This suspension, for failure to meet participant e-learning and consent requirements, as set out in the CSSP adoption contract, is effective October 14, 2025.

The CCES has been working with Cricket Canada since the April 1, 2025 deadline to support progress toward implementation of the CSSP. Despite ongoing efforts over the past six months, the necessary requirements have not yet been fulfilled. Both Cricket Canada and Sport Canada have been notified.

As a result of this suspension, individuals previously identified as CSSP participants by Cricket Canada no longer have access to CSSP reporting mechanisms or protections. These individuals should contact Cricket Canada for alternative reporting options.

Should Cricket Canada fulfill its outstanding obligations, the CCES will reinstate the national sport organization under the CSSP and issue a public statement to ensure its participants are informed.

Why is this CSSP contract requirement so critical?

Adopting Sport Organizations that participate in the CSSP have key responsibilities to support the effective implementation of the program and to foster a safe sport environment. A critical part of this commitment includes ensuring participants complete the mandatory 40-minute e-learning module and sign the consent form – steps that are essential for participants to understand their rights and responsibilities under the CSSP.

Without these foundational requirements, the CCES may be unable to process safe sport reports involving individuals from these organizations. These obligations are in place to protect all participants and to reinforce the collective responsibility of the sport community in upholding safe sport standards.
