Ottawa – August 27, 2024 – The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) is pleased to announce the appointment of Signy Arnason as the new Executive Director of Safe Sport, effective September 23, 2024. Signy brings a wealth of experience in leadership roles and expertise in safeguarding children and young adults from exploitation and abuse.

Signy joins the CCES following 23 years as the Associate Executive Director of the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (C3P) where she guided C3P's growth to a national and international leader in child protection. With a strong background in the implementation of victim-centred processes and trauma-informed practices, her experience and leadership will contribute to the successful transition of the Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner (OSIC) and Abuse-Free Sport into the CCES’s operations.

“I’m excited to welcome Signy to the CCES,” said Jeremy Luke, CCES president and CEO. “Signy’s extensive background with safeguarding and years of experience working in child protection make her a great fit for this new position and to lead the development of the next version of the safe sport program.”

“I am thrilled to join the CCES and utilize my background in addressing maltreatment to advance the development of the safe sport program,” said Signy. “I look forward to working with the CCES team and those within the sport community to create a next version of the program that everyone in sport can rely on and that all Canadians can be proud of.”
