How do I submit my whereabouts information online to the CCES?

Athletes can submit their whereabouts information online to the CCES using ADAMS: the Anti-Doping Administration & Management System. This system was developed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and is available for use by international sport federations and national anti-doping organizations (like the CCES) around the world.

If you are an athlete with a visual impairment, you may submit using the CCES whereabouts forms.

Why should I use ADAMS?

ADAMS is web-based. You can submit and update your whereabouts information from anywhere in the world at any time, and it will be instantly available to the CCES and WADA.

How do I access the system?

You can access ADAMS at the following secure link: https://adams.wada-ama.org or by downloading the ADAMS mobile app (available for both iphone and android devices). To get a username and password, contact the CCES by sending an email with your name and sport to [email protected]. The CCES will reply with a username and password. 

Is my information secure?

Yes. The ADAMS system is hosted in two highly protected data centres using the same type of security provisions as banking applications. Security is based on pre-determined roles and business rules.

  • Data is available only to those organizations with authorization in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Program (WADA, national anti-doping organizations, international federations, WADA-accredited laboratories, and major games organizers), and access rights will be explicitly granted.
  • Users (national federations/athletes/athlete agents/core administration staff) will be granted controlled access by their respective organization.
  • Only those areas relevant to the specific user will be viewable.

I enter my username and password at the ADAMS login page, but it just flashes and returns to the page. What's going on?

Ensure your browser is either Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. Turn off all pop-up blockers, both within the browser and in any add-on toolbars. Perhaps your password has expired: your ADAMS password must be reset every 90 days. Try using the [Forgot Password] link to find out the contact telephone number of your custodial organization, or to have a new password emailed to the address you use for whereabouts.

How do I change my password?

Click on your name in the top right corner to access your user preferences. Click [Change Password], and then enter your current and new password. You must then log in to ADAMS again using your new password to continue using the system.

How do I switch ADAMS to display in French?

Click on your name in the top right corner to access your user preferences. From the [Preferred Language] dropdown, select the interface language of your choice. ADAMS will reset to your MyZone page with any language change.


What information is required for my whereabouts to be considered complete?

If you are an RTP athlete (either N-RTP or G-RTP), you must provide accurate and complete information about your regular activities for each day during the upcoming quarter. This includes:

  • the full address of the place where you will be residing overnight (e.g., home, temporary lodgings, hotel);
  • the name and address of each location where you will be training or conducting any other regular activities (e.g. school, work) as well as the usual timeframes for these activities; and
  • your competition schedule, including the name, location and dates of each competition.
  • In addition to the above information, if you are an N-RTP athlete, you must also include, for each day of the upcoming quarter, one specific 60-minute time slot between 05:00 and 23:00 each day where you will be available and accessible for testing at a specific location.

What are the deadlines for each quarter?

The four whereabouts quarters are January-March, April-June, July-September, and October-December. The deadline for submitting your whereabouts for each quarter is the last day of the month preceding the quarter, e.g., the April-June quarter must be submitted by March 31.

I don't know where I will be three months from now. How am I supposed to complete my whereabouts?

The CCES understands that you may not be aware of your exact whereabouts three months in advance. If this is the case, fill in your daily residence and regular activities to the best of your knowledge, then update your whereabouts often as you find out more information.

Do I need to enter an overnight accommodation for each day of the quarter?

Yes, every day of the quarter must have an overnight accommodation entry to indicate where you will be staying the night. This may include your home, a hotel during competitions or vacations, or temporary lodging like a friend's house. If you do not know exact dates or addresses, fill it in to the best of your knowledge, then update your whereabouts often as you find out more information.

How do I enter my training schedule if I train outside on local roads or up on a mountain?

Athletes like cyclists and climbers will often not have a reportable training address, but still must identify their training schedules. If you absolutely cannot put in a specific address, describe your location in words such as "rural roads around Canmore" or "running paths around Halifax".

I am not competing this quarter or training due to an injury. How do I indicate this on my whereabouts?

If you are not training or have no competitions scheduled for the upcoming quarter, select "Click here if you have no competition (or regular activity) this quarter" in the Whereabouts Guide and enter your reason.

When I go grocery shopping or out to a movie, do I have to enter this information in my whereabouts?

No, only regular activities must be included in your whereabouts submission (e.g.,school, work, rehab). However, if your last-minute movie outing takes place during your specified 60-minute time slot, you must update your whereabouts to indicate a valid location and timeframe for your daily 60-minute time slot.

I've finished entering my whereabouts for the quarter. Do I have to click the [Submit] button?

Yes. Once your whereabouts information has been created, it is essential that you click the [Submit] button for it to be considered submitted. Until you click [Submit], your custodial organization (either the CCES or your IF) cannot see your whereabouts information. Clicking [Submit] also enables you to check if you have provided sufficient information, as ADAMS will generate a warning if you have not.

60-Minute Time Slot

What's the best way to set up my 60-minute time slot?

The CCES strongly suggests that you identify your 60-minute time slot at a location that will rarely change. Many athletes find it easiest to provide their home address and a time period that is either early in the morning (e.g., 06:00-07:00) or later in the evening (e.g., 22:00-23:00).

Is the 60-minute time slot a testing window?

The 60-minute time slot is not a testing window. It is a compliance window.

Can I be tested outside the 60-minute time slot?

Yes. It is important to understand the CCES can and will test athletes at any time and any place on any day during the quarter. Therefore, you should ensure that your whereabouts information is accurate and sufficiently detailed to enable no-advance-notice out-of-competition testing.

Travelling and Competitions

What information is required for a competition?

When you are at a competition you must include:

  • An overnight accommodation (hotel, condo, etc.) to identify where you will be staying during the competition. Include the complete address, city and country and hotel/condo name and room number if available.
  • A Competition entry. In the [Address] field you should include the name of the event (e.g., National Championships) and/or the venue name. Also add the city, country, competition time (e.g., 09:00-15:00), and any additional information that may be applicable to the competition.

What if I do not know the address of a hotel, competition venue, or other location?

Provide as much detail as known. Enter the city, country, hotel name, and indicate in the [Address] field "Unknown at this time". If additional information is available it should be entered in the Additional Information field located at the bottom of the location descriptor. Once the complete hotel information is available, update your whereabouts with the new information.

How do I enter my whereabouts for vacation time?

The best way to enter your vacation time is to create one or more overnight accommodation entries for the places where you will be staying during your trip.


When do I have to update my whereabouts information?

Please update your whereabouts at least 48 hours in advance of any changes taking place. However, we understand that this is not always possible. You are able to update your whereabouts right up to the last minute before the change takes place, but you cannot change a time window that has already started.

What are my options for updating my whereabouts information?

When you use ADAMS to submit your whereabouts quarter, you have several options for updating it.

  • Most often, you would log into ADAMS and add, delete, or change your calendar entries.
  • For last-minute or emergency changes, you can:
    • Email [email protected] describing the dates, times and addresses affected.
    • Set up your ADAMS account to accept SMS/text updates.
    • Call CCES at 1-800-672-7775.

How do I delete information from my whereabouts?

Delete a single whereabouts entry from the one-month view by clicking on the entry, then on [Delete]. You can either delete the single entry or the entire series.

I have made updates to my whereabouts. Do I have to resubmit it?

No, ADAMS automatically saves any updates made to your whereabouts information.

SMS/Text Updates

How do I configure my ADAMS profile to accept SMS/text updates?

  • In your user profile, click [edit].
  • In the [Contact Details] area, select Mobile from the [Phone type] dropdown.
  • Enter your mobile phone number using the format +16135213340. You must enter the +1 and the area code to identify your unique number, and do not include spaces.
  • Select [use SMS], then click [Test connection].
  • You'll receive a text message with a three-digit security code, valid for 24 hours.
  • Set up the ADAMS SMS/text number +447781480710 as a contact in your cell phone, and then create a new text message containing ONLY the three-digit code.
  • Once ADAMS processes your text message, your user profile page will show "Test OK" and you are ready to send whereabouts updates via SMS/text.

How do I update my whereabouts using SMS/text messaging?

First, you need to configure your profile to use SMS/text for updates. Once you've completed this, you can use the mobile phone attached to your ADAMS user profile to send short, last-minute updates to your submitted whereabouts information. Be sure to include the dates, times and addresses affected by the change.

Why is the ADAMS SMS/text number not a North American phone number?

Most athletes that use ADAMS are based in Europe, so the first number to be set up is European. Text messages will cost slightly more when sent from Canada (e.g., Bell Mobility charges $0.25 instead of $0.15).


What time zone should I use when populating my calendar?

Always use local time for the address you are adding to your calendar. If you are changing time zones during the day, use the local time for the beginning and end of flights, similar to how it is shown on your flight confirmation.

What time format is used in ADAMS?

ADAMS shows all times using the 24-hour clock, or military time. For 9:00 a.m., use 09:00, but for 9:00 p.m., use 21:00. A simple conversion factor is to add 12 to any p.m. time, but ADAMS can also convert a time for you: if you enter "9 PM" in a time field, it will be converted to 21:00

Where is the [Submit] button?

The [Submit] button is located in the top left-hand section of your whereabouts page.

The system will not allow me to submit my whereabouts. What's wrong?

When you click [Submit], ADAMS will generate warnings if you have not provided sufficient information. Review these warnings and correct any missing, insufficient or conflicting information and attempt to submit your information again.
