Overview of Position
As a member of the CCES Technology team, the network/cloud administrator plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation, security, and efficiency of an organization's IT infrastructure, encompassing both on-premises networks and cloud-based resources. The incumbent is responsible for network configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and cloud administration among other tasks. The incumbent derives valuable insights from technical data to support decision-making and improve technology and business operations. This includes analyzing datasets, identifying trends, and communicating findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
Additionally, a critical aspect of this role is being a power user of the S2 internal IT system, assisting staff in effectively utilizing the system, designing and generating reports, and logging updates and bugs to ensure continuous system improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities
Network Administration
- Configure and maintain local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs).
- Manage network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues to ensure optimal functionality.
- Work with managed service to implement network security measures to protect the organization's data and resources.
- Perform routine maintenance and backups of network infrastructure.
Cloud Administration
- Manage cloud-based resources such as storage, databases, and applications on the Microsoft Azure platform.
- Provision and configure cloud resources according to business needs.
- Monitor cloud resource usage and optimize costs.
- Implement security best practices for cloud environments.
Application Administration
- Manage licensing for business products such as Microsoft, Adobe, and Sophos.
- Manage users and groups.
- Troubleshoot SaaS cloud and proprietary applications.
- Assist with upgrades.
Data Analysis
- Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to identify and access data sources (e.g., databases, logs, application metrics).
- Ensure data quality and accuracy through cleaning, validation, and normalization techniques.
- Utilize statistical methods, data visualization tools (e.g., dashboards, charts) to analyze and interpret data for storytelling.
- Generate reports and presentations that effectively communicate insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Support
- Handle ongoing technical support to staff working on site and from home as well as in-house technical and privacy/security training as required.
- Coordinate, develop, implement, and monitor computer-based solutions for programs and staff.
CCES Quality Management System
- Be aware and knowledgeable of the position’s responsibilities within the Quality Management System.
- Comply with relevant quality system processes and recommend process changes/revisions as appropriate.
- Identify potential risks and help identify and manage risk mitigation strategies.
- Log stakeholder feedback/comments in the feedback database for tracking and appropriate follow-up.
General Responsibilities
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Technology, the Executive Director, Corporate Services, and/or the Chief Executive Officer.
Qualifications and Competencies
- University degree in computer science, engineering or a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Over one year of on-the-job experience and/or performing similar duties required.
- Demonstrated success in providing network, cloud and application administration and conducting data analysis.
- Successful track record of performing effectively in a team setting and driven by team success.
- Able to work in a collaborative, supportive fashion in a way that promotes the organization’s best interests in keeping with the CCES corporate culture.
- Professional conduct, sound judgment, and leadership skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to work effectively with colleagues, peers, and external parties.
- Highly conscious and aware of confidentiality and integrity, with the ability to manage and interpret sensitive and confidential data.
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail are essential.
- Demonstrated time management, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- French verbal and written communications skills preferred.
- Knowledge of the greater Canadian sport community is an asset.
