The CCES Invites Applications for Virtual Management by Values Workshop

Ottawa – January 15, 2024 – The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) is pleased to invite expressions of interest from sport leaders to participate in a two-part Management by Values workshop on Tuesday, March 5 and Tuesday, March 26, from noon to 3 p.m. ET.

Sport Law logoThis virtual workshop will provide participants with the knowledge they need to understand the principles and processes of Management by Values, create shared learning through peer-to-peer success stories, and build a roadmap to activate the principles within their organization’s culture. Part one will focus on foundation and theory, and part two will bring Management by Values into action and allow for peer-to-peer engagement.

The workshop is based on Values-in-Action: Igniting Passion and Purpose in Sport Organizations, which draws from management science and practical wisdom of sport leaders, empowering participants to leverage organizational values to mitigate risks, fulfill organizational commitments, and foster a high-performing environment for staff and volunteers. The workshop will also explain how intentionally integrating True Sport into programming can contribute to positive sport cultures.

The CCES has been collaborating with Sport Law to deliver holistic, strategic, and values-based initiatives, including Management by Values, since 2007. Lauren Brett, Certified Leadership Coach at Sport Law, will facilitate these sessions. Sport Law has been providing strategic insight to the Canadian sport community since 1992. They offer a full range of consulting, Leadership Coaching, and legal services that support their vision to elevate sport.

The workshop is open to leaders of Canadian sport organizations and is free of charge. Registration is limited to 12 participants. Please submit expressions of interest by email to Liz Muldoon ([email protected]) by February 9, 2024.

Participants of the 2023 Management by Values workshop said:

  • “Management by Values is more than a workshop; it's an invitation to align what we love with how we live, work, and play in this incredible place called sport. Learning alongside Lauren and other leaders in the community made the content relevant, more accessible, and intuitively clear. The resources shared offer tangible ways for working through ethical dilemmas and driving a sport culture we can all be proud of.”
  • “[The] workshop really challenged traditional ways of operating and in doing so gave a framework to use to create a more transformational way of leading an organization.”

The CCES would like to acknowledge the Government of Canada for their financial support of this project.
