2027 Code and IS Consultation

In September 2023, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) launched the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code and International Standards Update Process. The Code is the core document that harmonizes anti-doping policies, rules, and regulations across sport organizations and public authorities around the world. It works in conjunction with the International Standards, which collectively foster consistency among anti-doping organizations in various areas.

Since their first release in 2004, these foundational documents have evolved based on experience and stakeholder consultation to ensure their continued effectiveness, though the standards may be updated on different timelines. They are living documents, updated approximately every six years, and now the fifth iteration of the Code is being drafted.

WADA leads the drafting and consultation processes, and the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) leads the process of providing comments to WADA on behalf of our national sport community throughout the consultation phases.
